Gw2 which order is best
Straightforward smashing of evil, subterfuge and shenanigans, or the pursuit of knowledge? User Info: Thalandor Your Order only impacts the middle section of your personal story. Any other impact is minor and subtle, none of which would directly impact a Mesmer. You eventually get access to shops that sells unique sets of weapons and armor.
Obviously, Vigil is most convenient in that regard in the current state of the game. Personally, I enjoyed the Whispers story more than the others, but not really enough that I would recommend it over other factors. User Info: Duke Darkwood. Once you pass the right story quest to be able to use the Fort Trinity gates, you can use them from any order HQ, regardless of your own order.
This was not originally the case, but was implemented several months ago. The choice of Order can be approached from a story perspective, or a reward perspective. In terms of reward, it's the order-specific weapons and armors. Due to the almighty Wardrobe, people with enough alts to join all three orders in all three weight classes will end up being able to unlock them all - but that can take a goodly amount of time and coin.
From a story perspective, each order has its own ideals and its own approach to the threat of the Dragons. The Vigil 's ideology is summed up by their motto - "Some must fight, so that all may be free" - and is directly military in both its organization and its approach to, well, anything. Their approach to the Elder Dragons is equally direct, but with an insistence that Tyria, as a whole, must be united to face this threat. The Vigil was founded by someone who witnessed an Elder Dragon's attack, and knows it is an enemy none can face alone.
The Durmand Priory is essentially a colossal library. Its goal is the preservation of all knowledge. It shares much of its knowledge quite freely, provided you come to them to read the books they don't loan them out, heh. When the Dragons started rising, the Priory knew they were a threat to all they strove to protect - the sum total of the sapient races' knowledge, not to mention those races themselves. They believe in researching ways to fight smarter, not harder, and that their knowledge will be useful in thwarting the Elder Dragons.
And then there's the Order of Whispers , the most venerable institution of the three. To most who know them only through GW2, their ideology seems to be to stay in the shadows and manipulate others into doing the greater good for them. While that's certainly their preferred method, the reasons behind it are because they seek to protect Tyrians from things that Tyrians would be better off not knowing existed.
In essence, they deal with the creatures under your bed, so that you grow up believing there was nothing under the bed all along. Work in the shadows, both directly agents acting against the Dragons and indirectly maneuvering other people into helping them against the Dragons. If the story is what motivates you, use that to help decide.
Indeed, it's worth seeing all their stories at least once, if you wish to make alts to do so. While it does seem that some professions would naturally gravitate to specific orders, it's not necessarily the case. The Vigil needs tacticians as much as frontline warriors, and the scholars of the Priory are often involved in research in hostile areas, so knowing how to fight is an asset.
And who would ever expect a Whispers agent who doesn't fit anyone's idea of what a Whispers agent should be? User Info: jokrayz. Duke Darkwood posted It's how you flesh out the story that makes it so. It was awesome. A soldier who prefers close up fights without the heavy armor holding her down? Wow, I wish I had known that sooner. I was inactive during that time so it went completely over my head. Thanks for clarifying!
User Info: Aureal. Why make different characters for different weight classes? Surely you can buy light armor with a heavy character and so forth! Sure, you get nothing for it but the ability to use the skin from your wardrobe, but isn't that the point?
Not like you're likely going to be using them for their stats Behold the mythical art of quad-wielding and its dodecarrow storm!
I believe Aureal is right. When you salvage an item, it goes into your wardrobe, so even if you buy armor from a different weight class, you can still add it to your wardrobe by salvaging it. This means that you really only need three characters to complete the entire order armor collection.
I don't think you can salvage the Order stuff- I just bought a Whispers weapon a couple days ago and it won't let me salvage it, like karma items. But the skin was unlocked just by buying it since it's automatically soulbound. User Info: cpg2. Path of Fire you will need to buy the expansion Living Story 4 only two episodes so far, if you have logged in earlier this year you will have Episode 1 and if you log in right now you will get Episode 2; Episode 3 is expected some time in the next month and will also be free to anyone who logs in.
Note that even free accounts can get the episodes for free by logging in, but cannot actually play them until they own the relevant content. Taimi and the other "Biconics" aka Destiny's Edge 2. There has been a minimal amount of story published in ANet blogs, eg the introduction of Marjory, but those are not needed to understand the plot. In my opinion, the Living World stories are nice little story bits that are worthwhile if you enjoy the story, but the major stories and the most important ones are by far the vanilla, HoT and PoF stories.
The Story Journal should list all the releases in chronological order, so you can just work from the top down if you want to play them all. To begin with you'll only see the first episode of your personal story and the two expansions, because you have to play through those storylines in order in total there's 8 episodes for the personal story, 16 for Heart of Thorns and 13 for Path of Fire.
That and the level requirement is the only restrictions on what order you play them in. Once you're level 80 you can switch freely between your personal story, the expansion stories and any living world episode you own so it's entirely your choice if you want to play them in order to follow the story or skip bits.
