How long do marvin windows last

Have asked our installer to follow-up. Thanks for the info. Custom color would add three weeks tops. I assume you are talking about a custom exterior color. Custom was interior color - we thought given the investment in the windows, and the number of them, it would present a much cleaner look to have the factory do it. Total additional cost was around 3k.

Just wanted to say thanks to all on this thread. After hearing how excessive my lead time was, I rode my installer to provide an order number so that I could verify with Marvin that the order had been placed. I was hit with dual incompetence - first with my installer, who failed to follow-up on the order, and then with the dealer, whose rep didn't know how to book a custom interior color, so he put it aside and forgot about it.

The order had never been placed. I fired the installer and refuse to use that supplier, so it's back to the drawing board. Very unusual for Marvin. Their dealers are usually meticulous. Didn't you put down a deposit? How are you getting that back? I had a great experience with JB Sash - but that was several year's ago and was for Andersen windows, not Marvin. They knew when the next truck was planned to be coming from the factory and I quickly had a copy of the factory order and an estimated delivery date.

I went to both the JB Sash and 'the other' distributor and talked to them both. Both my installer and I preferred JB Sash. Sorry you had a bad experience - I'm sure you'll be fine with the other guys. I feel bad for you. Others of JB Sash's customers evidently agree with you. It is really bad if a third of your clientele hated your work.

It really helps to research your contractors online - while there are always a few unfairly disgruntled customers even the very best contractors will have one or two bad reviews , when you see a pattern of bad reviews, you should go elsewhere. Happy ending to this story and I type this as the painters complete the last of the trim - we're finished and the windows look great. We went back to the drawing board and considered Anderson Woodwright, Pella and Marvin and ended up back at the Marvin Ultimate replacements.

Thanks to those on this board for all your help provided throughout the process. Regarding the sales tax, I assume that you purchased the windows directly and employed someone to install them?

I only ask to clarify for other readers, as those that purchase windows "installed", should not be paying sales tax on a capital improvement.

The sales tax is paid by the party buying the windows, not an "installed window". Effectively it's the same either way; the installer either pays the tax upon purchase and passes it along to you, or uses their exemption and collects at the end. Also to know is, What is the average cost of a Marvin window?

Keep in mind that this will vary by region and which series and custom options you choose for your home. This price also includes installation costs from a third party contractor. Subsequently, question is, Is Marvin a good window?

From our perspective as window experts, we recommend sticking to Marvin for the most part due to their higher quality materials and the options that are made free on their standard packages. Marvin has been a pioneer in pultruded fiberglass windows that provide eight times the strength of vinyl, are maintenance free, and provide protection from wind speeds in excess of miles per hour. The most common windows installed are double hung or casement windows which are very affordable.

As a result, the Marvin Windows and Doors and Integrity Windows and Doors brands and logos are being retired, and both will operate under a single, simplified Marvin brand and new logo. This will help our customers navigate our portfolio of solutions in a simplified way, organized as product collections. Our windows and patio doors all carry lifetime warranties for their core components, plus a twenty-year warranty on glass seal failures.

These products should last for decades and look beautiful the whole time. A single window replacement can meet your needs. You can improve your aesthetics and energy efficiency in the long run. You can get it all out of the way with a whole-home replacement.

Insulation — In terms of energy efficiency, composite windows have a clear advantage over vinyl. Skip to content. Quick links. We keep getting the run-around from the manufacturers on how long we can expect to go before needing maintenance or replacement on these windows.

Our current windows are in bad shape - some rotted sashes, broken balances, and exterior paint peeling horribly, but there are still hold-outs in the building who are furious we would ever consider replacement. We think the old windows have run their course, and would like to replace with maintenance-free exterior. However, the short warranties on these windows are not encouraging to dissenters and since nobody will give us a straight answer - it's tough to provide a counter argument.

Any idea what sort of life expectancy we can hope for ballpark?
